Every PC I've worked on recognizes files with the .XLS extension as Excel files. However, since the file will not be in the Excel format, I believe the user will have to go through the steps of confirming the data layout. I also believe comma separated variable format will be fine unless your commas will be in numeric data. Note also that there is a PTF that must be applied for the CPYTOIMPF command to function properly, but I don't know which it is for V4R5. Hope that helps. Donald R. It would appear that tab-delimited format would be preferable to comma-separated values format because of the potential for commas in the data. <clip>
