Yeah, Rick, this replaces those commands. I've not used it in a while, so I'm not sure about the pause or wait setting that you get with STRPCCMD, if that is still available - there's some kind of parameter similar to that but it doesn't look exactly the same.

As for the IP address, I think it'd be best to use an IP name that is in a DNS to which you have access - or is in the hosts table of the 400.

There IS a security issue - you have to put in a user ID and password for the PC. You can also have generic security, but then anyone can do anything on the PC - even FORMAT.

STRPCO and STRPCCMD get their connection info from the PC that is connected. I don't know, can you do those commands from a batch job? RUNRMTCMD can, so that may be the better option there.

There's a lot of info in the Express User's Guide.

Vern,

Are you saying this would replace the STRPCO and STRPCCMD commands? If so,
do you know of a way to dynamically get the IP address of the PC running the
Client Access session?

Sure, Vikas, you can do this. You need a remote execution "server" on the
PC. You have one with Client Access, called Incoming Remote Command. NT and
above have rexecd, as do most Unix-like systems. Then you execute RUNRMTCMD
on the 400, passing the command string, the IP address, connection type,
user ID, and password. You will have needed to set up Incoming Remote
Command, which you do in Client Access Properties. And the server must be
running on the PC.
