General comment, (not to insult you, or anyone else): "It's the
application stupid."
Once again, it is the application selling the box. Is it integrated DB?
No. It's Domino. Now, the rest of that stuff is gravy, and an
opportunity for improvement to someone with a Domino mindset. 'Now I can
integrate my database with Domino on the same box. That has to be a
better performer, etc...'

Don,

I don't quite understand your comment in:
But then, let's ask ourselves, how many of the major vendors and how many
of the vendors that
used to write for the 400 were even remotely interested in Domino?
Or can we rewrite this to say "How many of the major vendors (past or
present) have written NEW applications that have helped to generate
iSeries sales to NEW customers?"

I would suggest any traditional vendor look at Domino as a possible way to
increase sales of their software. Maybe use it to front end some
applications, where applicable.

For instance, we've added mods to a Domino package to track Engineering
change notices through an approval workflow. Click on this and it will
pull up a BPCS where used report. Click on that and it will pull up a
BPCS bill of material. Click on that and it will use the QNTC directory
to go out to our NT servers and pull up the Engineering drawing.
Slap that on an intranet and watch people drool.

Rob,

I really wouldn't be surprised if that's more than the majority of the
reason anyone is buying a 400 nowadays.... But then, let's ask
ourselves, how many of the major vendors and how many of the vendors that
used to write for the 400 were even remotely interested in Domino?
