Booth, I got it to work. RPGLE code is:

Ftest      o    e             printer
C                   eval      fld001 = 'ABCDEFG'
C                   write     rcd001
C                   write     rcd002
C                   eval      fld001 = 'HIJKLMN'
C                   write     rcd001
C                   write     rcd002
C                   eval      *inlr = '1'

DDS code is:

A          R RCD001
A                                      SPACEA(0)
A            FLD001         7A  O     1
A          R RCD002
A                                      SPACEA(1)
A            FLD001         7A  O    45

This assumes everything is on one line, no SPACEA's on fields.

A similar technique was used for underlining and highlighting.
