My vote goes for RAM. jch -----Original Message----- From: John Taylor [mailto:lists@studioworks-tech.com] Sent: Thursday, December 19, 2002 4:45 PM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Processor .vs. RAM. What's a better bang for the buck? Um... guys... if I can interrupt the Holy War Of The Week for a second, I need some advice on the best way to spend my hard earned dollars. Give a 250 with the following basic configurations: Box 1 ------------------------------- #2295 (15/50 CPW) 1024MB RAM Box 2 ------------------------------- #2296 (20/75 CPW) 256MB RAM and all else (including price) being equal, which would you consider to be the better performer for a mixed workload of: - light RPG application usage (mainly testing) - Web development work using Tomcat, or possibly the yet to be released WAS-Light In other words, would I be better off throwing money at the RAM, or the processor upgrade? Thanks, John Taylor _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
