Depends on each situation, yes, but processor speed in MHz does have quite a bit to do with it. Just try running the *ADMIN Apache server on a 720 and then do it on a 270. The CPW is only MAYBE 2x larger, but since the 270 is @ 550 or 600 MHz (among other improvements), it DESTROYS the 720. jch -----Original Message----- From: David Gibbs [mailto:david@midrange.com] Sent: Monday, December 16, 2002 11:22 AM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: Re: Availability WAS(RE: Lower End AS/400s) "Justin Haase" <JHaase=7S0NwazrWznqlBn2x/YWAg@public.gmane.org> wrote in message B957E426BA59D41196070000F6EFFDCC0153FE46@dalxchg">news:B957E426BA59D41196070000F6EFFDCC0153FE46@dalxchg... > The fact that there are other "high-availability" systems out there that > will blow the doors off the iSeries for Java performance as well as > reliability. I know I'm going to be starting a holy war here ... but your statement "blow the doors off the iSeries for Java performance" is open to debate. david _______________________________________________ This is the Midrange Systems Technical Discussion (MIDRANGE-L) mailing list To post a message email: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/cgi-bin/listinfo/midrange-l or email: MIDRANGE-L-request@midrange.com Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l.
