Nero uses the extension .nrg by default, but will burn images of any
extension. (While I'm here: Mac OS X's Disk Copy utility uses .img, but will
burn .iso.) I haven't tried burning an image created with iPTF, though. (Do
I even get the ability to use that facility whtn a software subscription, or
do I need a maintenance contract?)

My guess is that IBM shares a misconception with SGI that a .iso file must
contain an image of an ISO9660 filesystem.
