JOberholtzer: The OS/400 DDM client has supported sending passwords since.... hmmm... well, quite a few releases before V5R2, perhaps beginning in V4R1. This only applies when connecting via native TCP/IP rather than APPC, but it definitely exists. See documentation on these two commands: CHGDDMTCPA PWDRQD(*yes/*no/*encrypted) and ADDSVRAUTE.
