Useful is an opinion. An engine crane is useful, but I've managed to
survive all these years without one.
Some would argue that with outfiles, bit twiddling of CPYSPLF, etc that
the usefulness of API's are diminished.

I disagree. Everytime I think of using an outfile, or CPYSPLF of output
of IBM commands, or some other esoteric technique I look up the API's by
Category. Once you've mastered a simple API, and a list user space API,
you've got a bulk of them figured out, (some of the C api's are a
different story).
We've actually used quite a number of them. And have created our own
prototypes, data structures, etc for well over a dozen or two.
And that would be by 4 or 5 different people in the department. Not just
the 'propeller head'.

Subject: Question - re: OS/400 APIs

All,

This is a little research for me in regard to using OS/400 APIs.

What APIs are useful?
What APIs are commonly used?
Are there any that are really interesting?

Thanks,
Trevor
