Raw data, used by Performance Tools product, is a set of performance data base files. These files (and collection mechanism for them) is a part of base operating system and does not require any additional products. Performance data base files are described here (this link is for V5R2 - for previous releases this can be found elsewhere in Information Center): http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r2/ic2924/info/rzahx/rzahxperfdatafiles1.htm Alexei Pytel "Andy Nolen-Parkhouse" To: <midrange-l@midrange.com> <aparkhouse@attbi. cc: com> Subject: RE: Performance tools. Sent by: midrange-l-admin@m idrange.com 11/18/2002 12:20 PM Please respond to midrange-l Tom, For V5R1, here are the reference manuals for: Best/1 http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r1/ic2924/books/c4153411.pdf Performance Tools http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/iseries/v5r1/ic2924/books/c4153401.pdf Best/1 is a part of Performance Tools, although it is being phased out and its functions will be placed in iSeries Navigator. As I recall, the command to initiate Best/1 is STRBST. Yes, Performance Tools does generate a lot of raw data which can be used by other products, but it sounds like you haven't really begun to explore the product yet to determine whether you need to do that. As more functionality gets moved to the PC-based Navigator, it is very likely that GDDM will not be necessary for good graphics. I hope this helps, Regards, Andy Nolen-Parkhouse > admin@midrange.com] On Behalf Of McGivern, Tom > Subject: Performance tools. > > I've got 5722-PT1 installed, but can't find any decent documentation on > the darn thing... > > It would appear to require GDDM to produce the graphs (I hope it > produces some kind of graph) are there any pretty charts, I see a lot > of references to BEST/1 (but that I don't have a license to..
