Bill,

Please see my other messages about "big file upgrade".  The reason for trying 
to use FMTDTA is simply speed.  I'm trying to find the FASTEST way to perform 
the upgrade - and CHGPF ain't it!  (as detailed in the other message)  However, 
it doesn't appear that FMTDTA is an option either.  It can't accommodate new 
fields very well.  (not surprising, given the actual purpose for FMTDTA...)
