I never thought to do that!

It turns out you can only use *OUTFILE when the job is '*', but I can still
send the output to *PRINT, then convert it into a database from there.
(I think there is a TAATOOL for that!)

We had a similar need years ago and we just used the DSPJOBLOG command and
sent the output to a file. Now, of course, you can send it directly to an
outfile.

Subject: Looking for API to retrieve command and parms being
invoked by a job

I would like to write a application to detect when duplicate jobs
have been
submitted and move the duplicates lower in the JOBQ. I would define
duplicates as jobs with the same job name/userid/command string to
be
executed (eg, CALL PGMX PARM('12345' 'SMITH')).

I have been unable to find an API that would retrieve the command to
be
executed. (Would this be the RQSDTA?). QUSRJOBI comes close, but I
don't
 see the command info there.

Does anyone have any idea if this exists?
