Sure enough, I've dug through my deleted messages and found that I was thinking of John Carr's comment about altering a save file in memory. The example doesn't relate well anyway. Sorry to have misrepresented each of you. -Jim -----Original Message----- From: Joe Pluta [mailto:joepluta@PlutaBrothers.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 30, 2002 11:44 AM To: midrange-l@midrange.com Subject: RE: Paging file > From: Jim Damato > > I think Joe Pluta and others have suggested that this exposure is an > esoteric example. Jim, this is actually one of the very few areas where I don't debate. I've talked at length with Leif about this issue, and he has convinced me that SLS as implemented in OS/400 is problematic. However, unlike most other issues that I rant about, I have no fix for this particular area, and so I have nothing constructive to say. It's a personal thing (one that some people miss) that whenever I spout off about something, I try always to offer an alternate solution. I have no such observation here, so I choose to let more knowledgeable folks debate. You know me well enough by now to know that if I had an opinion, it would be posted here <grin>. Joe
