Check the Setup, Operator, and Service Guide for the 3581.  GA32-0412-00.

You want to change the mode of operation.  Page 69 will step you through
how to change from random mode to sequential.  I think that should do it
for you.

We have a new autoloader tape drive. IBM model 3581.  We would like to run
two separate backups on two separate tapes, in an unattended mode.

In the CL program, for the command SAVLIB, the Parm EDNOPT *UNLOAD
disengages the tape drive, but does not eject the first tape and load the
second tape.

Does anyone know how to accomplish unloading tape 1 and loading tape 2 in
an unattended mode.
