We have found that replacing the batteries in UPS are very cost effective. We pop open the UPS case, and take out a sample battery (they usually have more than one). The best source I have found for UPS batteries (and most any other type) is Batteries Plus (I am pretty sure they are a national chain). They have NEVER let us down. Also, set up a corporate account with them. We get a 50% discount on purchased on our corporate account compared to the guy off the street who walks in. I just replaced the batteries in several 1400kVa unit for about 70 bucks apiece. cjg Carl J. Yes, I've seen this before. At a previous employer we had just one of the eight batteries in our UPS go bad and every time there was a power outage the AS/400 would crash immediately. That one bad battery prevented the UPS from maintaining the system power for more than just a very few seconds. Given the price of the replacement batteries, you may be just as well off to buy a whole new UPS rather than replacing the batteries in the old one. I'd get a quote both way to determine which is more cost effective. Thank you, Ronald L. Zimmerman I.T. The BP says that the batteries are dead and the best option is to replace the UPS. Sorry I don't have more details yet. Anyone heard of this?
