Batteries do go bad.. contact UPS manufacturer for replacements.

I have seen batteries last for 7+ years in some boxes. It depends
on care and how much use. The UPS is really just a giant battery
charger and line filter. The batteries are the heart.

It would be remarkable to have to replace UPS over a set of batteries.
