Karl, Sorry I did not know that you had already tried RTVQMQRY (because I was in too big a hurry to answer you inquiry) and I also did not know it would not handle exception joins. I ASSUMED (wrongly) that the RTVQMQRY would handle this for you. I prefer to use left outer joins testing on the secondary table not returning any results. Select * from Table1 T1 left outer join Table2 T2 on T1.itemid = T2.itemid Where T2.itemid is null To me this means more than exception (personal preference, same results).
