Thanks to all who sent me their registry. I tried them, and still have the same problem. It may be something lower level, such as "color pallettes" or some such. As I said, I've managed to return the screen to something workable, though not correct, so this is just the final straw that will get me to move to a new box. I recently got a new machine to test mail serving. Now that the new mail configuration is stable, I can offload the setup to my old mail server, and upgrade the new box to be a new workstation. Then I take this machine, burn it to the ground, and make it dual boot between Windows and my favorite free OS <grin>. Joe
