I shall once again raise a hue and cry if WAS Express is not free. To have sold people on WebSphere as the strategic direction of application development, and to have gotten people using it with a free version, and then to remove the free version, is an unconscionable bait and switch. The last time I brought this issue up (in June of last year), I was told that Tomcat was the answer. That was sufficient at the time, but now that Tomcat is no longer supported, we're back to the same old question. There must be a free supported web application server on the box. If there is not, the box should not be used for web serving. If IBM forces my clients to unsupported Tomcat as the only free web application server, then I'll tell them to run it on a $700 FreeBSD box and the heck with the iSeries as a web server. And then my clients won't even have to upgrade their machines. I'll just remove the interactive load completely from the box, and they can defer any upgrades. And even when they do upgrade, they can buy a much smaller machine, because they will need little or no interactive CPW, nor will they need the extra memory required to run WAS. Joe
