Here, from developer world, is info on the new system catalogs introduced
in v5r2. PTFs available back to V4R5.

Database Catalogs

Beginning with V5R2, the iSeries supports a new set of catalog views and
tables for ODBC & JDBC clients in the SYSIBM library. These database
catalogs are supported by the entire DB2 UDB Family. This new set of
database catalogs will make it much easier for ODBC and JDBC-based tool
vendors to support the entire DB2 UDB Family. PTFs are now available to
make these catalogs available on V5R1 and V4R5 systems. These new catalog
views and tables are created in SYSIBM for compatability with the other DB2
UDB products. The catalog views and tables found in QSYS2 will continue to
be supported. Here is the V4R5 & V5R1 PTF Information (the new SYSIBM
library is part of the V5R2 GA code):

V4R5 : 5769SS1 SF67478
V5R1 : 5722SS1 SI04582

iSeries customers that want to use DB2 UDB Version 8.1 clients (eg, DB2
Connect) to access iSeries database must apply these PTFs to their systems
in order to allow these clients to work. This is due to the fact that the
latest version of DB2 UDB clients depend on this new set of database
catalog that are common across the DB2 UDB Family.
