before you end tcp, I would first suspect the print server and/or printer. I
have seen this behaviour before and it has "almost always" been the remote
equipment or their settings.
IBM Knowledge Base has some good docs on remote printing and their settings.
Some servers like Jet Direct need the timer settings adjusted to stop
timeouts.
What release of OS400?
There is a series of docs about TCP ptf's, including printing ptfs, broken
down by release.
