Howdy,

Newbie to the list, and recent iSeries convert wondering about email
output options available (w/out additional third party apps if possible):

In particular, re: a V5R1 system:

- Is it possible to create a "printer" which redirects all its output to an
external email address (i.e. an SMTP mailbox on another system) and if so,
could I set a user profile so that their default printer was this device, so
their reports (by default) would get emailed to them?
- I assume if the above IS possible, it'd be somewhat ugly in that you'd
likely need one device per external (email) address... Still, I've done this
on other systems and it was handy (at least for operators and power users)
- Are there freeware tools/CL scripts to scan the output queue and route all
queued reports for a(all) user(s) to their respective (external) email
address?
- Can a "foreign" email address be associated with a local user profile? Or
would this need to be stored elsewhere?

If I'm outta luck without 3rd party apps, are there recommendations for a
package that can handle the above?

Any better online references to email options? The redbook article I read
was circa 1998 (AS400 Electronic-Mail Capabilities) and seems a bit dated.

TIA,
  Chris
