Evan I guess I would not. Return values via commands are more like input/output variables. For me, a return value is independent of the parameters passed. Since variables are passed by reference in CL, you've always been able to pass back a changed value in a call, IIRC. And again, I think I'm in error again. What I was referring to is the return variable you can specify on the CALLPRC command. In other words, CALLPRC can assign a return code to a CL variable. I guess this does not mean you can return, independently, a value from a CL anything. That's what I get for making a knee-jerk reaction. :-( Vern At 07:53 AM 9/2/02 +1200, you wrote:

That's not exactly true. You _can_ get a return value from an ILE CL procedure. You cannot get one from an OPM CL program, or even an ILE program.
