170 - Tape Drive Trivia

I have a 6386 QIC and a 6382 QIC.

I would like to remove the CD drive and put both these tape drives in the
system.

I tried it, and it wouldn't recognize the 6382.  Pulled out the 6386 and put
the 6382 in its place and it worked just fine.

Is this possible on this system, or do I need to rip the box apart and
switch out drives anytime I want to access old tapes?
