I would start with two things:

1. Do a DSPFD of the file (on each system) and record what is shown as the
CCSID of the file.

2. Do a DSPPFM of the file (on each system) and locate a record which
should contain the left square bracket. Then use F10 and F11 to determine
the hex value stored in the file for the left square bracket (note that you
may or may not actually "see" the left square bracket -- you may very well
see a cent sign (or a NOT sign, or a ...)).

In a CCSID 37 file you should find x'BA' for the left square bracket, and
for CCSID 500 x'4A'.

Hello all,

Here is my problem.

I have an AS/400 located in Ontario (Canada english). on this system,
we generate a file to be transfered to a bank. The files contains the
caracter "[" among others. I use CA experss to download the file on a PC
in Quebec (Canada french). After the transfer, the caracter "[" is
replaced by "¢"!!!

When I do the same transfer from other AS/400 in Quebec, all is fine.

On the Ontario machine here are the related sysval (I think):
QCCSID: 65535
QCHRID: 697-37

On the quebec machine, those values are:
QCCSID: 65535
QCHRID: 697-500

Any hint?
