Probably not. People put more value on different things. Like money and
security. And then it depends on what you already have, like or know (or
want to know). Like do you already have a DSL modem or modem/router or are
you just starting and in the planning stage. Do you want to try to get by
with the firewall in the router (if it has one). Do you want to use Linux
as a firewall, do you want to write exit programs on the AS/400. Do you
want to write a firewall for the AS/400 and use that As/400 for NAT and
have two as/400's then. How many public IP address(es) do you have? Do you
really want to have to use 2000 or XP?

One thing to keep in mind is that putting the AS/400 on a network
(including the Internet) is the same as a PC. You may not worry about be
hacked as much with the AS/400. But what you are doing is allowing traffic
to find (or not find, depending on the case) your AS/400 and the traffic
does not care what it is going to, just how to get there. Now setting up
the services (HTTP, FTP, EMAIL) that is different then a PC.
