If you haven't already you should look at http://www.ibmlink.ibm.com/usalets&parms=H_201-117 near the bottom. It has a section for V3 upgrade reduced price, and V4 upgrade no additional charge. And I guess it depends on what you mean by deal started at V4R4. You could get a refresh at V4R5 which gave you the WDS software. But if you mean qualify to get it at no additional charge it looks like you only have to be at any V4 release with one of the packages and software subscription.
