Over software still stand hardware.
It is probably a bug ... but I saw the following in a not especially AS/400
shop.
They had inherited of a model 150.
Somebody sold them some connectors to save on twinax wires: they managed to use
some cheap blue unshielded twisted RJ45 wire between a couple of them.
They had used it to connect few dummies and their SNA printer for invoices on a
classical SNA controller.
I will add it was a TV channel business with heavy electromagnetic environment.
As soon as any dummy was connected their QSYSOPR msgq was screaming hundred of
times the following message:
* *Attention* Device *N on resource *N failed.
Controller CTL01 failed. Internal system failure.

Ghost devices were appearing, ... but globally no more trouble than that in
daily business. This server is sometimes too much robust.
I warned them they were going toward harware trouble and even more troublesome
things like false printing trouble ... but the statu quo stayed for a while
because they were on the verge to throw there server away anyway.
HIH if it can enlight the "electrons" case.

I have never heard of a virus on an AS400. Anyone?
I have a customer with a changing item#/descr/price on an invoice. The
software developer said it was electrons changing the data in the AS400 or
the printer was malfunctioning. Sounds like a bug to me.
