IPDS printing on S/36

A fellow IT consultant in town has asked me for some advice regarding IPDS
printing, specifically for labels with portrait and landscape oriented text,
and barcodes.  "Not a problem" I thought, until he mentioned that his client
is running on an AS/400 but in S/36 mode as a shared machine.  Most of my
S/36 experience is actually the S/36 environment - which this is not, as
they are actually loading SSP.  Does anyone have suggestions for a good
reference text on advanced printing functions on the S/36?
