I'd think you could use RCVMSG (in a CL) or equivalent API (QMHRCVM?). The message IDs are in the TCP32xx area. Just do a ping interactively, then take HELP on each message. You can get the MSGDTA from either approach, then parse that into data. DSPMSGD to see what the substitution variables are, then compare to an actual message to see which you should use.
