Just remember that all printers can't be setup as a *LAN configuration. All
our printers are on our "local network" but unless the printer model
supports PJL, you can't setup as a *LAN. We actually have lots of *RMT
printers setup.

Look at the outq description using the WRKOUTQD Work Outq
Description command. Remember this is a description of a remote
printer, so there never will be a device description on your system, even
if the device really is on your local lan. If it really is local, you could
create a local printer, type *LAN, with a connection type *IP.
This option came later from IBM.

A past employee had created a "RMT" print writer on our 400 and for the life
of me I cannot figure out how to display the object description. I have
tried WRKDEVD(*rmtprt, *vrtprt, *lanprt, *all, *prt, *everything under the
sun) and nothing returns a description. When I do a WRKOUTQ to the queue
attached, I can see the writer as a RMT type.

I'd really like to see the charactaristics of this object (as you can with
all of those other printer types)...can anyone lend a hand?

Thanx.

Rick Rayburn
