Jeff, Most likely that is the problem. You can check NETSTAT for port 123 and see what your traffic (bytes in is like). Or you could run a trace on your line and determine the same thing. I use a PC SNTP client to help with problem determination. There are a bunch of them and I'm sure everyone has their preferred client - currently I've been using NetTime ( http://nettime.sourceforge.net/). Michael Crump Saint-Gobain Containers 1509 S. Among other things are instructions on the SNTP in V5R1. I followed his directions, but no matter what time server I use in the CHGNTPA command (and I've tried a few, both by name and IP address), when I do a STRTCPSVR *NTP it never works. The QSYSOPR message queue gets the following messages: No response received from the NTP server. SNTP Client initialization failure.
