We are an ASP for a number of our eBusiness and Motor Vehicle customers. In Motor Vehicle some relationships have been as long as 10 years (outsourced ==> ASP).. For our ASP operations, we support only our own software. If the customer is willing to give up the "security blanket" of being able to see their server, we have been able to offer significant economies of scale. Our 10-year customer (a brand name that you would all recognize and most of your sons would crave for you to own), is in their fourth agreement with us until 2007. Their MIS Manager says that we are "the best thing that has ever happened to their systems". We have been successful because we aren't trying to be all things to everyone, just something special to a few! Remember that the Internet is a centralizing strategy and removes the classic justification for decentralization. It also enables the economies of scale that occur with centralization!
