Tried that last time actually.  Put in manual mode, hit power to turn off,
hit power to turn on... and screen came up asking for SST user name and
password.  That's why I unplugged and plugged it back in, because I knew it
would come up unattended on power failure.

Since then I've learned that I should be able to quickly switch from manual
to automatic mode after hitting the power button the second time, but
haven't tried that.

Luckily, at this point our AS/400 is chugging along fine.

I think I'll check for the latest CUM to see if there is a fix for this
before calling support.

Rather than pulling the plug on such a machine, try putting the system into
manual mode and then pressing the power switch twice. This will cause a
gentler shutdown.
