I you are VPNed into the clients LAN, then you should look to the LAN
and the 400 like you are on the local network.  Have you tried to fire
up Ops Navigator?  We use it extensively over VPN connections.
Sometimes the VPN server may not assign the DNS server correctly, or
your local DNS server may intercept the name packets, so your problem
may be DNS related.  Have you tried to access the AS400 via Ops
Navigator using the IP address of the AS400 and not the system name?

Just a thought.

Are you VPNed directly into the AS400 or via a LAN.  I'm not against it
if it can be part of my toolkit.
