Do you want to be the client or server?
I think SSL for FTP was implemented on the client in v5r2 and on the
server in v5r1.  Before that you can either use a 3rd party software
like Trailblazer's FTP software or use a PC front end using an SSL
client like WS_FTP.

that a long time trading partner wants to start using ssl for file
