Hi,

Although I'm not intimately familiar with attaching a printer through a
34xx workstation, I can generally tell you that a lock from QSYSARB
generally means that the device has been configured, and not varied on.

This is the desired choice of configuration to establish a dedicated A/P
check printer...and previously, an HP6 was attached and working fine. Then
the paper started to jam. It was decided at some juncture to try and
upgrade
the device and an HP1120 (i think) was purchased. I was then told by the
person in charge of this task that the HP model was TOO NEW and the printer
wouldn't talk to the workstation. Are the 3488 workstations (on release
4.3)
only able to handle the older model HP printers? I'd love to be able to
hook
up an HP4000, if possible.

When trying to return the old printer to its previous config, new problems
arose. Inconsistent error messages including device not ready and one weird
one about printwheels and font changes which of course were not user
generated whatsoever. And QSYSARB has a lock on the device. Man, I hate
QSYSARB! Does anyone know how to release the QSYSARB lock on a device? I
never could figure that one out, other than re-booting the 400 (Ha!).

Any help would be good help here.

Thanks,

Rick Rayburn.
