thanks all who replied. Finally got it working.
The failing part was my pc. IBM Support (hardware) took
me thru a test with Hyperterm connection to the iSeries
thru the Ops Console cable. It showed we could connect,
but not truly function. Borrowed my kids pc & worked fine.
Time to reload Win98 or upgrade my pc to W2K or XP.
btw-the Ops Console connection does work in C07.
I must say the Ops Console manual #^%ks, mixing multiple
options in each decision path, and is totally NOT oriented
towards the initial setup.
