Steven,

Does the printer have an internal jetdirect card or are you using an
external box?  If an external box, check the printer cable - old/cheap
cables are not wired properly for bidirectional which will give you
problems. Also, if an external 3 port jetdirect box, make sure the
cable is connected to port 1.
