Jerry, I search on "cwbRC_RunCmd" ( this is a client access express api ). I get 11 hits. The first has 1 mention of the search word and is a small document. The 2nd also has 1 mention and is a medium size document. The 3rd hit has 1 mentions and is a small size doc. The 4th hit has 2 mentions in a medium size document. The 5th has 2 mentions and in a little bigger then medium size. Why is the 4th and 5th hit not listed on the top ahead of the single mention documents. Does the algorithm calc result order as words divided by mentions ? If so, would a document with 20 words and 1 mention ( 20 / 1 = 20 ) be listed above a document with 5 mentions and 200 words ( 200 / 5 = 40 ) ? Thanks, Steve Richter -----Original Message----- [mailto:midrange-l-admin@midrange.com]On Behalf Of Jerry Barry The description I found was: The search engine ranks the resulting list of documents according to how closely they matched your criteria. The ranking is weighted by the number of times the search words appear relative to the document size, and by how closely the text in your criteria matches the text in the document.
