The problem you are probably referring to is that the directory and file names are actually held in unicode, though actually traversing through the user space isn't easy either! In order to convert to unicode, you need to use the QTQCVRT API. I can't send you the code to process the user space, being as it is part of the product I support, but I can send you the code to convert from unicode to EBCDIC if you want offline. Let me know. Mike
