:> Not sure, but I think every Midrange-L subscriber gets BCC spam
:> delivered automatically. No need to duplicate it.
:
:Folks:
:
:I'd rather that folks did *NOT* forward advertisements from
:vendors to the mailing lists. While some may consider this to
:be news, most people consider it just free advertising. BCC's
:messages are spam, pure and simple. I suspect that few people
:who received their messages (myself included, at multiple
:email addresses) asked to receive their messages. When you
:don't ask for commercial email, it's spam. There's no need to
:propagate their spam.
:
:As always, if a vendor has a solution that will solve a
:subscribers specific problem, they are allowed (and
:encouraged) to post a response to that effect. These lists
:are about solving problems and making our lives easier so we
:can work on the really tough problems (like using up the
:worlds supply of fishing poles). Vendors are *NOT* allowed to
:post general "HEY LOOK AT US AND OUR GREAT PRODUCT" messages.
:On the subject of spam in general: It really annoys me when I
:get spam ... It annoys me even more when the spam comes from
:an iSeries vendor. It absolutely toasts my chaps when iSeries
:vendors send spam to the mailing lists I host. Any vendor
:that attempts to spam the lists will earn a special place in
:my version of hell (think multiple matching records RPG II
:programs, with 60 files and no variable more than 3
:characters). And, to be honest, anyone indirectly associated
:with those vendors loose points with me. Some may think that
:unsolicited commercial email is a valid marketing technique,
:and it may garner sales in the short term, but it will always
:steer me away from that vendor. If you wish to follow up on
:this topic, send private email.
