Yes, companies have lost the art of dead tree manuals. What I've done in the past in this case, when it's a manual I use a lot, I cut the pages out of the book, if it's a real cheap book simply bending the binding all the way back does this. Then I took a 3 ring punch and punched the pages and stuck them in a small 3 ring binder. Wasted a bunch of time to make a 3 ring binder manual but since I used it a lot, it was worth it to me. Instead of loose leaf pages in a 3-ring binder, it's now a paperback book. It no longer stays open on _any_ page, let alone a specific page. Therefore I have to hold it open with 1 hand when in use. Furthermore, the spine won't stand up to much use, period.
