Subject: Re: Auto Config of 529x Controllers on SLDC

>From my presentation on System Values:

Name: QAUTORMT V3
R1.0

  Description: Remote autoconfiguration indicator

  IBM Initial Value: '1'

  Length & Type: Character: 1

  Valid Values and their Meanings:

         '0' Remote autoconfiguration is off.

         '1' Remote autoconfiguration is on,
The system will automatically configure any remotely
                   attached device.

Comments: Remote automatic configuration is supported for 5494
and 5394 (with RPQ for Type 2.1) remote workstation
                   controllers. Controller and attached device
                   descriptions are automatically created.

                   Controller naming convention:

                            1 - 5 First 5 characters of remote LU
name
                            6 - 8 'RMT'
                            9 -10 Controller number

                   Device naming convention:

                            1 - 4 First 4 characters of remote LU
name
                            5 - 7 'DSP' or 'PRT'
                            8 - 9 Local address
                               10 Session number ('b/', '1', '2' or
'3')

In the event that the remote LU name is less than the
specified number of characters, the appended fields are
concatenated with the last non-blank character, shifting
the following characters to the left by the specified
                   number of spaces.

User must have *ALLOBJ and *SECADM authority to change
                   this system value.

As IBM has discontinued production of remote controllers
and sold that product line to the Perle Corporation,
Perle controllers automatically configure as equivalent
                   IBM controllers as follows:
|----------+--------------------+----------------------------------------------|
| | Perle Model Number | IBM Equivalent |
|----------+--------------------+----------------------------------------------|
| | | 5394 Model 01B (large configurations report |
| | 394 (A11 Models) | as multiple controllers) |
|----------+--------------------+----------------------------------------------|
| | 494 (All Models) |5494 Model 02 |
|----------+--------------------+----------------------------------------------|
| | |5494 Model 02 (large configurations report as |
| | 594 (All Models) |multiple controllers) |
|----------+--------------------+----------------------------------------------|
