Thanks for the help on CRTDIR & CHRCURDIR, that moved me along significantly. Also the link to the FAQ and the links within that as well. Based on my reading of the IFS manual, I have decided to change from using the QOpenSys file system to the root file system, since I don't want to get caught up in case-sensitivity issues. Scott, what I mean by "navigate" is to be able to copy a native flat file that contains html data to the IFS so it can be used from there. It appears that I need to use the CPYTOSTMF command for that. I notice that the CPYTOIMPF does not exist at v3r2 (the development system), but does at v4r5 (the target production system). So I'll use CPYTOSTMF unless there's a compelling reason not to. - Dan Bale (I am *NOT* "Dale" http://archive.midrange.com/midrange-l/200105/msg00281.html ) SAMSA, Inc. 989-790-0507 DBale@SAMSA.com <mailto:DBale@SAMSA.com> Quiquid latine dictum sit altum viditur. The CHGCURDIR (shortcut = CD) CL command changes your current directory. Aside from that, I'm not sure what you mean by "navigate". If you're trying to create files or read a list of files from a CL program, you probably can't... you'll probably have to use the IFS APIs from an RPG or C program. (Since QSHELL didn't exist in V3R2)
