A great adjunct to the main game, but hard to find the essence of what an implementation entails. I also knew nothing about MQ when I started. I used the red book, "Using MQ Series on the AS/400" to configure MQ between two AS400s and an NT. It has a step-by-step approach. It took me about 7-10 days if I remember correctly. The book provides a step-by-step approach. IBM also provides sample software to continually test your configuration in the MQMSAMP library. I made mistakes, but resolving them meant I had to hit the manuals and learn more about the AS400 MQ implementation anyway. It certainly wasn't time wasted. I also cloned code from various IBM resources with minimal changes (mostly in a library called MQMSAMP). They worked fine. I also spent a bit longer writing my own application interfaces in RPG. Again I found the manuals more than adequate. IBM seem to have examples in various langiages - also a good way to coming to grips with the real-world implementation of those conceptual issues. Good Luck!
