This is a sample of the code(my thanks to Tom Liotta) that I use to detect
if the job has ended abnormally. This code is would normally be at the
beginning of the SCOPEMS program.

SNDPGMMSG MSGID(CPF9898) MSGF(QCPFMSG) MSGDTA('Begin +
             Scope Message processing')
CALL PGM(QUSRJOBI) PARM(&RCVVAR X'00000090' +
             'JOBI0200' &PARM ' ')
CHGVAR VAR(&JOBISTS) VALUE(%SST(&RCVVAR 108 4))
IF COND(&JOBISTS = 'END') THEN(DO)
        .
        .
        .
RETURN
ENDDO
/* Normal completion */
        .
        .
        .
RETURN

Hope this helps.

Michael
