I don't remember having any slot options on a /36., it was always 'TC' on saves 
for libs and files.
Unless you had tape i/o and a specific piece of software where you selected a 
tape slot, something like the old diskette
magazines.
the 3581 probably has a manual, that may explain 'how to'.
