Assuming you already have the latest service pack installed, and are on a
current version of CA, have you checked with IBM for reported bugs ?  I
have seen MANY occasions where newer versions/service packs for PC5250
introduce just the weird sort of buggy behaviour you describe here.

Yes, CAE should behave exactly like a 5250. If it doesn't there's a bug.

What VRM are you at? Which version of CAE?

This suggests there is PC attribute on any fields in your display file,
right?

Check the Client Access webpage for any PTFs or service packs that apply.
