I haven't had to poll a Siemens switch myself but I believe we've done it in
the past with an HDLC connexion back when they were still Stromberg.  As for
BX.25, the engineer has it backwards.  We spent months trying to get the 400
to talk to the switch, including getting the network guys with test gear
etc. in the mix.  They never connected.  BX.25 is missing some of the OSI
protocol layers.

We then spent an incredible amount of time and money to develop a BX.25
poller for a cellular switch.  It involved a PC and an ARTIC card as well as
some intricate C programming.  The customer decided that tape was better
than the solution we presented, so we scrapped it wholesale.  I heartily
recommend paying somebody else to do this if at all possible.  BX.25 = Bad
News.
